Character Age/Date of birth: 17
Family: Mother: Tyna, lay weaver/seamstress; father Awervary, holder
Current location: White Lightning
Physical description: Rasia is adorable. Big, meltingly brown eyes, dark and yet so round and full of almost literal sparkle that they draw attention. Her hair is equally dark, shoulder-length and a bit wavy (it doesn't have the commitment to either be straight or truly curl, despite attempts at encourage either way). Her face is oval, her nose a little big but with the world's cutest point, her skin a goldy-brown with the occasional smattering of darker freckles, and she is tiny (maybe five foot on a good day), while giving the impression she can fit right in someone's pocket. It is all, in a world, adorable.
She prefers dresses, prefers patterns and multiple colors that elevate their simple cuts and seems to flounce in everything she does. Cute as a button and always a bit day-dreamy looking, she often opens eyes and mouth wide in surprise or wonder or joy or all of the above.
Play By: Jenna Coleman
Personality: She is dreamy and precious and obsessed with romance and love, and falling love, and the lovely harper-tale version of life. Because she is sweet and cute and precious and believes in the best, often things work out incredibly well for her - people seem to have a natural inclination to protect or support her, and as she was very much spoiled and cosseted by her family, that bubble around her is fairly solid. And even some deeply jerky people aren't able to pierce it, because she is legitimately sweet and loving. Goodness knows how she wasn't already married off (easily explained, actually: no one she set her heart on was ever good enough in the eyes of her parents).
Rasia wants everyone and everything around her to be happy and bright and well taken care of. Though clearly pampered/coddled, she isn't selfish, and will go out of her way to bring all that sweetness and light to bear on behalf of others. Because isn't everyone around her just the absolutely loveliest?
Theme song: Kiss the Girl, Happy, Don't worry be happy, etc.
History: Rasia's parents were well to do enough that she, as the youngest of six, had only the lightest of responsibilities (darn and sew here, help cook there, help feed the runner or pigs or whathaveyou, rarely, there), and a large network of people who looked out for her with genuine care.
Her world was a bit of a dream, even in the Pass, Falls providing just the thrill of fear that gave life to everything else, and the groundcrews always returned safe.
That changed, when she was about sixteen, but she was protected from the worst of it. Still, they lost a field here, a crop there, half a groundcrew with her favorite riding instructor there. She noticed. She heard that dragonriders were fewer and further between, and worried over it, but it was a vague, hazy worry, as she knew neither riders nor dragons beyond an exciting glimpse at a gather or trader stop.
And yet. A few days after her seventeenth birthday, the most curious of dragons appeared (brilliantly, glossily, strangely opaquely quartz, bright and curious and stunning, pulling every eye of the holdfolk her way), and her gorgeous rider said they would take any promising young person who had an interest in dragons.
That vague, hazy worry had a solution! Rasia could help the dragons, surely, if one would like her! She presented herself to rider and dragon without thinking, and gave the purest tinkling of a laugh when that large head came close to sniff (??) her. That apparently pleased the dragon and rider both, and she'd accepted Search before her parents even knew the dragon was there for that purpose.
They'd agreed, of course, though they worried. Not Rasia though, who breezed into this next new, exciting chapter of life with joy and a clear heart. While she missed her family immediately, there was plenty to keep her distracted and busy at the canyon, and it would take some time before she realized how little she'd get to go home. At this point of newness, it seemed nothing would truly change, this was just a temporary change in her story. (though yes, she knows she can't bring a dragon home, and she very much wants to bond with a dragon, it's not...real, yet.)
