Physical description: Keriana is not very tall, but she's the type who seems larger than she really is. She's only about 5' even, but her fiery red hair and sparkling blue eyes make her hard to miss. She's got full, pouty lips that stretch easily into a wide, happy smile that she willingly shares with anyone and everyone. She's slender from too many Turns of just barely enough to eat, but she's strong from lots of hard work. She does have, however, rather voluptuous curves at hip and waist, though she doesn't seem to notice this.
Keriana's favorite color is blue, to match her eyes, but she doesn't often get much opportunity to wear it. Most of the time, she's wearing threadbare hand-me-downs, as she doesn't really have much opportunity to earn money for anything fancier. Her hair is her one vanity, and she loves to wear it down in all of its naturally-curly glory. But when she's working, up it goes into a bun on her head. No matter what she tries, she just can't seem to keep that one or two errant curls from escaping said bun, and so often looks a bit adorably frazzled.

Personality: Despite a pretty rough life so far, Keriana is unrelentingly good-natured and kind. She has a temper on her, but even so, when she snaps at someone, she almost immediately feels badly about it. She loves to make friends and meet new people, but she keeps her innermost heart guarded, and it will be tough to become her true intimate. Hard experience has taught her not to trust easily, but she refuses to be bitter and cynical. She's also loyal to a fault.
Her sunny nature and doll-like features have garnered the interest of more than one gentleman (and some not-so-gentlemanly types... as well as probably a few ladies) in the past, but Keriana never seems to notice. She honestly doesn't believe that she's all that pretty, choosing instead to focus on her perceived flaws: her work-roughened hands, her unruly hair, her worn-out clothes, her clumsiness.
Oh, yes, she's totally clumsy, always bumping into things and knocking things over. It's like she carries around her own personal entropy field, and whatever she touches is bound to fall apart at the least provocation. It would be super annoying... if it weren't so cute.

History: Keriana doesn't remember much about her parents or her family. One faded memory of her mother's soft hands and a single, finely woven baby blanket are all that she has left of them. She grew up a drudge in a minor hold in Southern territory. The hold was prosperous, but not rich, and there was really only Keriana to do the drudge work. So from the time she was little, she hauled water, built fires, cleaned up after people and animals alike. She wasn't treated poorly, exactly, but everyone worked hard and she was no exception. She learned to read and sing her Teaching ballads by eavesdropping on the lessons given by a traveling Harper whenever he came to call. At one point, she dreamed of singing well enough for the Harper to notice her and take her away to the Harper Hall (for her singing voice is exquisite!) but her employers took great care never to let the Harper hear her sing. She was, after all, pretty essential to their daily lives, and they'd invested in feeding and clothing her for her entire life... not to mention dealing with her annoyingly cute clumsiness... so they had no wish to lose her to the Harper Hall or anywhere else, for that matter.
