Waiting for the sky to fall (attn: H'den)

Fleur woke slowly, a smile spreading across her face, the feel of the warm body holding her familiar at this point. Ever since Erady had made the change from her mother's quarters to the creche, she'd found herself spending more and more nights in H'dens bed.

She took the moment to nuzzle close to his neck, breathing in the scent of leather and dragon and whatever oil he'd used last night on Nimath. A quick glance told her the scarlet had yet to wake.

A mischievous smile came over her face, and she lightly kissed H'dens neck. She began moving down to his bare chest, keeping her touch feather light. A little morning surprise for him, she smirked against his chest.

There were not many ways better to wake up than H'den's current situation, and the scarletrider made a noise deep in his chest that was rumbly in exactly the way to indicate how pleased he was.

There were other indicators, but that was the audible one.

They had progressed a bit (H'den only opening his eyes to take in the impressive sight of Fleur in the morning), when their activities brought Nimath stretching to wakefulness.

Be careful, she told her rider, amusement throbbing through their bond even as her own audible rumble - much different than her rider's previous one - made that amusement plain to all. There are eggs on the sands now.

H'den paused, resting his hand on Fleur's waist to let her know they were being at least temporarily interrupted. "What do eggs have to do...?"

Fleur gave a little whine when H'den paused, then glanced over at Nimath. She was used to the one sided conversations at this point, but why on Pern would Nimath be speaking up right then? The scarlet and she got along wonderfully, so why would she be interrupting them now?

"What about eggs?" she murmured, trying to pull H'dens attention back to her, mouth and hands still wandering. Yllaveth had clutched, Ensieth had risen. Of course there were eggs.

To be fair, H'den's thoughts were hard to collect, and Fleur was not a little bit helping. Or, well, she was, but not in the way that allowed him to make sense of anything. "Don't know - Nimath?"

Eggs, she said patiently, idly ruffling her wings comfortably, on the sands already. So she doesn't have time to grow another person, before they're ready.

What does Fleur have to be ready for? he asked, not meaning to go silent, but rather fully distracted, and can you blame him?

It was only habit and good luck that allowed H'den to bring Fleur with him when he sat bolt upright, rather than tip her over or knock her off the bed. "Nim, are you-" Yes, amused noises again, verbal and mental both.

"Fleur..." And he looked at her, blinking, trying to pull his thoughts back together in any sort of cohesive way again.

Fleur let out an undignified squeak when H'den shot upright, throwing her arms around his neck to support herself before she tipped backwards.

"What are you two talking about?" she asked, annoyance in her voice as she looked between dragon and rider. "I can't hear you, Nimath," she reminded the scarlet.

Ask if she wants a dragon, Nimath prodded, and that and Fleur's exasperation finally got his brain moving again.

"She says we need to be careful, because you shouldn't get pregnant again with eggs on the Sands. Because you should be on the Sands." It had never occurred to him, because as far as he could tell it had never occurred to her...and Nimath, it seemed, had been waiting for a properly dramatic moment. "Fleur...she's offering you Search. If you want it."

Her mouth fell open at his words, and she blinked several times as her brain processed his words. Search? A dragon? HER?

Her mind boggled at the idea. Standing, Impressing... that was all for the younger people. She had completed her mission, and was preparing to reenter the field. But her, a dragon rider?

"Yes," the word was out of her mouth as soon as her body caught up with her racing thoughts. "Yes, yes, yes!" She grabbed H'den and yanked him close again, delving into his mouth with an excitement and passion that had her trembling again in no time.

A dragon rider. Her. She could be a dragon rider.

He laughed - as much as one could laugh while being so thoroughly kissed and returning the sentiment.

"Well," he said, when there was a bit of a pause, "let me suggest alternate activities for this morning, before we send you off to the candidatemaster..." And it was his turn, to trail kisses and the lightest brush of fingertips, down the sleek length of her. "Unless you'd rather go now?"

Nimath, amusement taking on a palpable smug edge, resettled herself and forbore not to be bored while her favored pair celebrated her obvious brilliance.

"As if I'm going anywhere before I properly thank you," she all but growled, shoving him back onto the bed with a predatory look in her eyes.
