Just a quiet, stolen moment (Attn: Jess)

Breklynn leaned back against the rock she had chosen to shade herself in, close enough to the river that the water lapped at her bare feet. It was one of the few free moments a day she had, and she cherished these times.

She'd given Nicaeth a good shrubbing, helped along by agate Brion and his tiny claws. The cobalt said he enjoyed the firelizards light scratches, and Brion certainly had a good time. Afterwards she had oiled Nicaeth until his hide shimmered in the sun, before giving little Brion the same treatment.

Now the dragon was curled into a tight ball atop a stone, basking in the sun, while his firelizard friend slept at the base of his neck. Breklynn couldn't help but smile at the pair.

This was near the spot where Sidran had found her, over a turn ago now, hung over and already desperate for more of what had led her there. The river had always been so calming to her, and she had often sought it even in her most altered state. It was here she'd opened her eyes to the giant wings of Maraxith, and the Weyrleader offering her a chance at a new life.

And now here she was, a weyrling to a growing cobalt of her own, a firelizard, and over a turn of sobriety. Despite the general air of doom, she was happy.

Having just finished giving Sanovith a good scrubbing and oiling of his own further down the shoreline, Revel patted his smoky gray hide and sent him on his way to finding a good spot on the canyon wall.  Breklynn had been finished for a little while longer, despite having another miniature beast to take care of, but since her classmate was still enjoying the warmth of the afternoon, Revel figured she'd see if the other woman wanted company.

"Hey, Breklynn!" she called, waving towards the cobaltrider as she headed her way.  "You've got that routine down pretty well, now, huh?" she asked with a grin, gesturing towards Brion and Nicaeth.

Not even a Turn ago Breklynn would have simply mumbled then made some excuse to leave. But being part of something, a group, this group had changed her. She grinned and gestured for Revel to join her.

"Brion helps a lot," she admitted with a small laugh. She had never expected a firelizard, let alone a DRAGON, so sometimes the entire situation just seemed hilarious. "He likes to get those top spots that are so hard to reach. Sanovith should join us sometime, Nicaeth says it feels absolutely wonderful."
