White Lightning Weyr is a non-canon, alternate universe (AU) play by forum RP club based on Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. Anne McCaffrey and her estate retain the all of the applicable copyrights, and we are incredibly grateful to be able to "play in her backyard" as it were.
- Where Do I Start? :
Check out our setting info and history, as well as our forum rules to determine if White Lightning Weyr is the place for you. You're also welcome to ask any questions you may have in the CBox or via PM to one of the admin team. This FAQ is also a great place to start.
- How Do I Save My Work In Drafts? :
Once you start writing a NEW thread, it will automatically be saved as you write. If you happen to exit out of the page, the next time you go to that forum to begin a new thread, your writing will automatically come back up.
If you are making a reply to a thread, you will need to select the "drafts" option, instead of "save". This will save your writing as a draft under your user profile. When you're ready to complete the writing, simply go to your profile and select your "drafts" list to view all saved drafts.
- How Do I Make My Dragon's Speech All Color Faded And Cool? :
Using color faded text for dragon speech is a cool way to add visual interest to your posts, and it can definitely help make your dragon's speech more readable on the dark background (I'm looking at you, Cobalts!) It's really a pretty simple process.
1. Go here. It's a site that allows you to input your text and select the colors you wish to see in your gradient.
2. Type your dragon's speech in the top box, the one that says "Enter your message here..." etc.
3. Select your colors for your fade. If you have a dark hued dragon, I suggest selecting 3 colors, having the 1st and 3rd be the same hex as your dragon's hide, and then having the middle one be a whitish/silver hue modified from that same color. This creates a dark-light-dark mirror fade that looks outstanding on dark backgrounds. Whatever you do, make a note of the hex codes you use so that you can use the same ones every time.
4. On the right side of the screen, in the dropdown menu labeled "Output Code", select "Standard Forum Code". This step is crucial.
5. Click on "Generate Color Faded Text".
6. The page will change, and a preview of your test will show in the top window. Select all of the code in the bottom window.
7. Copy and paste into your post. When you hit "Preview" or "Send" on our site, the bb code you selected should be replaced by cool, fancy, color faded dragon speech text. That's it!
